As I walked around camp last week,
I noticed a group of 6 girls constantly huddled together, scribbling on
a few loose pieces of paper, and talking feverishly. As you can imagine,
this was fairly strange considering they were the oldest campers of camp
and they were constantly working on something that appeared almost too similar
to school work. At first, I was slightly confused like many around
them, but I soon realized that they were working on the very famous
"Duper Song". Now if you have never heard of it before, this song is
composed by a group of the oldest campers at camp, the Super Duper
Seniors (often shortened to just Dupers). This song includes one line
about every person on the staff and allows these campers to reflect on
their time at camp, as their final summer comes to a close. Of course,
they are not the only ones thinking about this as Duper year is truly a
rollercoaster of emotions. As hard as leaving camp may be, the dupers
are able to enjoy every moment at CK whether they have been here for 2
weeks or 9 years. I want to take a few minutes of
your time to give each of these amazing campers a moment in the
spotlight because they truly deserve it.

		| This tradition was the perfect way to
say "See You Later" to a place that has had such a large role in their
lives. You may notice I said "see you later" rather than "goodbye" for
the fact that camp is not something that ends when the final bus pulls
away from Armstrong Hipkins. As impossible as this may seem when
everyone is packing up the dorms and a few tears are shed, remember all
off of the amazing moments here at CK and the outstanding friendships
made. Fellow Team D-er, Zach, likes to remind me of a few words shared
by Dr. Seuss: "Don't cry because it's over, Smile because it happened".
This Friday won't be the last time you here from CK, so don't be a
stranger! Call, visit, email, snail mail, text, what have you, camp is
		only a stone's throw away. |
